Who Are The Toowoomba Wordsmiths?

The Toowoomba Wordsmiths was started in 2011 by Emma MacTaggart and Susannah Birch. The group published their first anthology, Words From Toowoomba, in 2012. We currently have over 120 people on our email list and we’ve recently transitioned to virtual support and promotion only.

Members range from school students through to journalists, bloggers, script writers, editors, published and unpublished authors who write on everything from poetry through to nonfiction and a wide range of genres.

Unlike many writing groups, we are not based around critiquing or reading each others’ work.

Instead our goal is to provide encouragement and advice on a range of topics including online promotion, publication, editing, distribution and achieving our writing goals, no matter how big or small.

Many of our members also network together to sell books, attend markets or exchange services.

We no longer meet monthly, however we still provide updates on other local writing groups, upcoming writing and author related events and have an active Facebook group.

Support your local writers and enjoy a great read – our anthology is available for free download at Writers’ Web.
